Richard Bard

Based in Denver, Colorado, Richard founded Bard Capital in the early 1990’s after a successful corporate career. Investments have included a full range of middle-market companies, involved in technology, manufacturing, distribution, retail & franchise, infrastructure, real estate, and banking. 


After an early career at Citibank, Richard was a senior manager of four publicly-traded businesses, namely President/CFO of FoxMeyer Corporation (pharmaceutical distribution, formerly NYSE), CEO of CoastAmerica Corporation (retail/franchise, formerly NYSE), CEO of Optical Security Group (security technology, formerly NASDAQ), and CEO International of ComputerLand Corporation (personal computer products and services, formerly NYSE).


Richard is the former Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the current Chair of the Board of Visitors at Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University, and he is an Ellis Island Medal of Honor Awardee from the U.S. Congress. 


He holds an honorary Doctorate from the University of Colorado, a Master of Business Administration from Baruch College, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Penn State.
